It’s finally that time! The time of year when we think about the things we did well over the last 12 months and other things we wish we could have done better. If dental hygiene isn’t on your list, it should be. Many Americans get relaxed with their dental health and then wonder why they develop cavities or gum disease later in life. Here are some dental resolutions we encourage you to keep this new year!
Establish or Schedule Care with a Dentist
While we hope you are reading this because you are already a patient at Lone Tree Modern Dental & Orthodontics, there is a chance that you aren’t. Your first step in 2023 should be finding a dentist, and if you already have a dentist – set up your first cleaning of the year! At Lone Tree, we are passionate about your smiles and help to give you the best dental care in the Denver area. For new patients, you can schedule an appointment for just $59 – which includes your initial exam, cleaning, and set of x-rays!
Add Fluoride to Your Dental Regimen
You may have thought that fluoride was just for kids, and while we encourage fluoride application for all children to help prevent cavities in between cleanings, it is an essential mineral for adults, too! Fluoride acts as a barrier between your enamel and cavity-causing bacteria. If you aren’t already using fluoride toothpaste and mouthwash, we encourage you to start. The ADA has a great list of fluoride products that have their ‘Seal of Acceptance’.
Ditch the Sugar
This may not just be beneficial for your teeth, but ditching sugar can have tons of amazing benefits for your entire body! Not only will your liver and pancreas appreciate the detox from sugar, but your waistline will shrink and your fatigue will subside. For your teeth, sugar is the primary cause of cavities and tooth decay, so taking this away is a huge step toward a brighter, healthier smile in 2023!
Be Dedicated to Your Routine
You may already have a morning and night routine that includes brushing and flossing, but if you don’t – that is a great resolution to have. Starting your day with a routine helps your mind get ready and prepared for the tasks ahead. For your teeth, start your morning by brushing for two minutes, flossing, and following with a fluoride mouthwash. At night, do the same thing! Nighttime routines have also been proven to help people get better sleep.
